I have a WindowsXP on my laptop and I want to add a Fedora8 system on my laptop.I have uncompress the iso DVD and GRUB documents to the C: driver.
No any partitions on the C driver.How to assign a partition for Fedora8 in the file: boot/grub/menu.lst e.g, I edit this file as follow:
title Fedora8
root ?
kernel /isolinux/vmlinuz
initrd /isolinux/initrd.img
I want to know: No partitioms(only a C driver and I don't want to make partitions in advance), what can I used to repace the question mark?我应该用什么来代替root后面的问号呢？

我在root之后指定了(hd0,0)以后，进入grub，但无图形界面。
请前辈指点

现在可以进入安装，但是没有图形界面。另外不能自动提出用自由空间来分区。我指定了C盘（映像文件所在的区）后找不到iso-DVD映像文件。
